I was drawn in by the beautiful cover, and when I started reading, I was not disappointed.

When the story opens, we’re introduced to a girl named Suzy who is visiting someone in the hospital. It’s not long until she’s transported from the world she knows to one she does not. One filled with life-threatening creatures out for her blood. In the new world, she finds a few people willing to help her, most notably the love interest Bill. Suzy fights against the evil Erebus while guarding a gift left by her granddad that puts her into the most danger.

This is a unique fantasy with easy to relate to characters. They each had unique personalities which made it even easier to connect with and root for them to win. I especially liked Suzy. Her down to earth approach made the story flow smoothly. Her character growth was especially notable, not just magic-wise, but her thoughts and feelings toward those around her as well.

I thought the entire metaphor of the story was clever as well. “Man’s Crossing” is the boundary between life and death, and I loved the hint of paranormal that this concept introduced to the rest of the story.

There are a lot of ups and downs in the book, with plenty of fantastic worldbuilding and plenty of wonderful characters. I would definitely recommend this read to fans of fantasy, paranormal romance, or romance in general.
